All About NMN

What actually is NMN?

NMN simply put is a precursor to a molecular called NAD+, which helps cells generate energy to function and has been shown to decline with age!

It's recently been popularised by the Australian Harvard professor and longevity thought-leader, David Sinclair.

What are the benefits of taking NMN?

NMN is a supplement that has been gaining popularity in recent years due to its potential health benefits.

NMN stands for nicotinamide mononucleotide, and it is a precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). NAD is an important coenzyme that plays a role in energy production, cell repair, and gene expression. levels of NAD decline with age, and this has been linked to age-related diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Some studies have shown that NMN supplementation can increase NAD levels, which may in turn help to improve cognitive function and delay the onset of age-related diseases. However, more research is needed to confirm these potential benefits.

For now, NMN remains a promising supplement for those looking to support their health as they age.

Where is your NMN made?

Our NMN is manufactured and packaged in China, where there are adequate manufacturing capabilities to produce NMN at scale.

All NMN you see on the market is produced in China. Sometimes you see 'Australian-made' but this refers to it being packaged in Australia, not produced.

We package in China for efficiency and to provide you with competitive pricing.

Is NMN natural or synthetic?

All NMN on the market, including ours, is synthetically produced.

Naturally-derived NMN is very unstable, prohibitively expensive and has a short expiration date (under 30 days). With synthetic NMN, we can more accurately control the purity and the life span is a minimum 12 months.

There is no negative effect physiologically from taking synthetic NMN compared to natural.

Is NMN vegan, GMO-free, and free of nasties?

Yes, yes and yes. Our NMN is vegan, GMO-free, and does not contain anything other than pure NMN.

Which foods contain NMN?

Broccoli, avocados and almonds are foods that naturally contain NMN, albeit in small quantities.

500mg of pure NMN is the equivalent of taking 25kg of broccoli!

Is your NMN tested for purity and stability?

Yes! Our NMN have certificates of analysis demonstrating 99% purity.

It has also been stability tested through a 30 day test to ensure our product remain stable even in 40C temperatures. We didn't find any significant degradation in the product.

Are there any side-effects to taking NMN?

NMN is a form of vitamin B3 that is commonly found in green vegetables, legumes, and meat. While it is considered safe for most people, there are some potential side effects that you should be aware of.

In some very rare cases NMN can cause headaches, dizziness, and an upset stomach in some people. NMN may interact with certain medications that we are currently unaware of, so if you are taking any prescription drugs, it is important to speak to your doctor before taking NMN.

How long until I start seeing results?

Everyone metabolises NMN differently, so some people may notice effects more quickly than others.

Typically though, below is a good timeline of benefits you may experience:

Day 1-15: Improved energy, memory and cognition.

Day 15-60: Accelerated weight loss and improved insulin sensitivity.

Day 60-180: Marked reduction in biological age.

What's the difference between NMN and regular B3?

NMN is a derivative of B3 (NR) and is one step further down the pathway to produce NAD+.

NMN has also shown more impressive effects in mouse models (improved vascular health, longer lifespan, less arterial damage etc, which NR did not).

Further, new trials for NMN in humans have shown it to have a positive effect on areas like insulin sensitivity in pre-diabetic patients.

We have a very informative blog on our website, if you’re keen to learn more.

What does NMN taste like?

Neutral with a very slight hint of sourness like L-carnitine or vitamin C.

Is NMN like collagen? Can it help with hair/skin/nails?

Think of NMN like the ying to collagen’s yang.

Collagen is more beneficial for external factors like skin elasticity whilst NMN benefits focus around internal factors like boosting metabolism, improving DNA repair, improving heart health, and boosting muscle function as we age

Can NMN help with diabetes & heart health?

A recent study showed NMN to improve insulin sensitivity in pre-diabetic patients over 55. NMN is also known for improving heart health.

Which is better for boosting NAD+, NMN or NR?

You might have NR being advertised as a NAD+ booster. Whilst effective, latest research indicates NMN as the more effective molecule to boost NAD+.

There are three main reasons why we prefer NMN over NR:

1. NMN is more stable in the bloodstream.
2. NMN is one step further down the NAD pathway. That means NMN is more easily converted in NAD+ than NR.
3. Leading longevity scientists, like David Sinclair, take NMN, not NR

Finally, more research and funding is focused on NMN as a NAD+ booster, not NR, with the goal to treat age-related diseases.

What are the capsules made from?

Our capsule material is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HMPC). It is derived from wood pulp, vegan, clear, tasteless, and non-irritating.

We do not use carrageenan.

Third-Party Testing Certificates

We understand quality of product is of utmost importance for efficacy and safety.

That's why we have three independent purity tests, two from our supplier and one conducted on our own - from an independent USA testing lab - to validate purity and put your mind at ease.

See our third-party USA Lab Certificate of Purity

Note: our company name is Longevity Group and other elements shown are standard testing protocol, which fall completely within expected ranges (for reference, drinking water typically has 300ppm of arsenic, so don't fret).

See our third-party SGS Certificate of Purity

Note: blacked out part is to protect our supplier's name.

How to Use

How much NMN should I be taking?

If you're under 60, the recommended dosage is 500-750mg daily.

If you're over 60, you can take 750-1,000mg daily.

How to take NMN sublingually?

To take sublingually, place a scoop of the powder on top of the tongue. This is instead of trying to place directly under the tongue, which can be finicky!

Then use your tongue to move the powder underneath and let the powder remain there for 4-5 minutes whilst it dissolves. It might not dissolve fully, so after 5 min, simply wash it down with water.

Do I take both capsules together or separately?

For optimal results, take 1 x 250mg capsule in the morning with breakfast and another at night with dinner.

Can I take NMN with my current medication?

Most likely, yes. NMN has no known reactions with medications.

That said, as always, consult your doctor before commencing.

Can I mix NMN powder in my smoothie?

Yes, absolutely! As long as the smoothie is cold.

Can I mix NMN powder with hot drinks or in cooked food?

High temperatures can denature NMN, reducing its effectiveness, which is why we do not recommended mixing with hot drinks or cooking with food.

Can I take NMN whilst breastfeeding?

First and foremost, it's always best to consult your doctor before commencing any new supplement whilst breastfeeding and it's always best to err on the side of caution. For that reason, we recommend not taking NMN whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.

That said, when taken at the right doses (under 1,000mg daily), it is unlikely that NMN will cause any adverse effects to your or bub as it is stimulating the production of NAD+, something that the body produces naturally anyway.

There has also been studies using mice demonstrating the that the fetus is healthier after NAD+ supplementation. You can read about that here.

All About Us

Was AgeMate founded in Australia?

Yes! AgeMate was conceptualised and founded in Australia.

Where is your office based in Australia?

Our Australian office is based out of Richmond in Melbourne, Victoria.

How long have you guys been around for?

We're new kids on the block. We officially opened for business in September 2022 but have owned and operated various companies for 15+ years and understand the importance of great customer service, attention to detail, and full transparency.

Were you guys called BetrLabs?

Yes! We've rebranded to AgeMate as we felt BetrLabs was a bit corny and AgeMate more encompassing of our mission and long-term vision.

Are you TGA approved?

It's a great question and we aim for 100% transparency in everything we do.

NMN is not currently approved by the TGA for distribution within Australia nor by an Australian company. NMN is only approved by the TGA for export use only.

For this reason, we operate under a UK entity. Since all NMN is produced in China anyway, we ship out of Hong Kong to keep our costs competitive and shipping times low.

You may see some competitors selling locally but please note, they are not legally approved to do so.

NMN has been consumed for 10+ years globally with almost no adverse side effects being reported. Recent studies are now showing the real, tangible benefits of NMN consumption as we age.

We have faith the TGA will at some point authorise its distribution within Australia, but as you might imagine, governmental regulatory bodies must, by their very nature, lag behind scientific advancements.

Shipping

Why do you ship from Hong Kong and not Australia?

It's a great question and we aim for 100% transparency in everything we do.

The reason is NMN is currently not yet approved by the TGA for sale within Australia. NMN is only approved by the TGA for export use only.

That means local Australian businesses cannot legally sell NMN to Australian consumers either from within or outside the country.
