NMN Side Effects

NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) is a natural compound that is involved in the production of NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), a molecule that plays a critical role in cellular energy metabolism and various other biological processes.

It's generally considered safe and well-tolerated when taken in recommended doses.

In clinical trials, a Japanese human study revealed that doses of up to 500mg of NMN showed no adverse effects, while an endurance study showed no issues at dosages of up to 1200mg.

In one of the latest clinical trials, NMN supplements were administered in placebo, 300, 600, and 900mg doses, and no signs of toxicity were observed at any amount. Although research on NMN supplements is still ongoing, there are currently no significant safety concerns. According to Dr. Sinclair, "ongoing human studies with NAD boosters have not shown any toxicity or even a hint of it."

However, like any supplement, it may have some side effects, including:

  1. Gastrointestinal Issues: Some people may experience digestive issues like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, or stomach upset when taking NMN, but based on current studies and tracking these are very rare.
  2. Headaches: Some people may experience headaches as a side effect of NMN supplementation.
  3. Allergic Reactions: In rare cases, some people may be allergic to NMN and may experience symptoms like rash, hives, or difficulty breathing.
  4. Interactions with medications: NMN may interact with certain medications, including blood pressure so if you are concerned you should always consult your medical practitioner before taking it.
